CAT Exam Overview

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission into their postgraduate management programs, including:

• Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP)
• Post Graduate Programme in Food Business Management (PGPFBM)
• Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)
• Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM)

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to appear for CAT:

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA
• The graduation must be from a recognized institute/university
• Candidates in the final year of their undergraduate program can also apply
• There is no age limit to appear for CAT

Exam Pattern

The CAT exam is conducted in a computer-based test format and consists of three sections:

1. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
2. Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
3. Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

The total duration of the exam is 2 hours, with each section having a time limit of 40 minutes. The total number of questions is 66, with each section having 22 questions.

Registration Process

To register for CAT, follow these steps:

1. Visit the official CAT website during the registration period
2. Click on the “New Candidate Registration” button
3. Fill in the required personal and educational details
4. Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature
5. Pay the registration fee online
6. Submit the application form

Admit Card

Candidates can download their admit cards from the official CAT website during the specified period. The admit card will contain important details such as:

• Candidate’s name and roll number
• Exam date, time, and venue
• Instructions for the exam day
